Feeling under the weather or wanting to give yourself some immune boosting love?
This thick velvety drink has got you covered!

Full of the spicy goodness of tumeric, cinnamon and ginger and a delicate brightness from the lemon and baobab, this drink has got some serious immune boosting properties! Every single ingredient included has amazing health benefits on their own and combined they pack a powerful punch! Plus, it’s a THM FP and can be paired with any fuel type.
Let’s talk a bit about the ingredients.
Baobab
A nutritional powerhouse, baobab is the highest antioxidant rich food on the planet. Native to Africa (it’s the big, spreading tree that often comes to mind when you think of the African landscape), the health benefits of this plant are unbelievable. It’s rich in Vitamin C, iron, magnesium, potassium and calcium and also a great source of fibre. The Vitamin C it contains is also extremely bioavailable, meaning it’s easy for the body to absorb and use. Also, your body needs Vitamin C to absorb iron and baobab gives you the double whammy!
I discovered this amazing superfood after starting the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle and now it’s something I try to include in my food and drinks as often as I can. It has a bright fruity flavor that goes so well with anything citrus. You can find it online or in your local health food store, and if you live in Canada, I’ve even come across it at Bulk Barn.
Whey
This ingredient not only is great for making drinks creamy and frothy, it also contains the essential amino acid glutamine, an important part of immune system and intestinal health.

Lemons and spices
Most of us know how great lemons are for us, and I could go on and on about turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. These simple household spices can reduce inflammation, support gut health, fight cancer and arthritis, are antiviral, and the list continues! Plus, the spicy warmth they bring is great for congestion if you’re fighting a cold.
Glucomannan
I’ve included a bit of glucomannan powder in this immune boosting hot nog to thicken the drink and make it more “nog like”. (Is that even a word?) Anyway, it adds great mouthfeel and makes it seem more as if you’re drinking a rich S drink instead of a FP, but if you don’t have any, feel free to omit it.

One other optional ingredient
The Thieves or On Guard essential oil is a blend of cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, lemon and rosemary. It is extremely popular in cold and flu season and I love the taste it gives. But if you don’t have it, or aren’t into ingesting essential oils, no problem!
I should point out that this drink is not only full of superfoods but also very delicious so don’t limit it to cold and flu season!
Ok, now that we’ve covered all that, here’s the recipe.
