This delicous superfood smoothie is full of chocolatey goodness and completely customizable to suit your mood! Plus, it has a secret ingredient!

Where I got the idea for this smoothie:
A few weeks ago, I was listening to the Trim Healthy Mama podcast episode 165 called “Fear, Sugar & Your Immune System”. At one point, Serene and Pearl were going over foods that are especially good for immunity and cocoa, tahini, and whey powder were some of them. Two things popped into my head hearing this. Energy bites and smoothie! I still want to work on a chocolate tahini energy bite recipe, but here is the smoothie I came up with!
This is a superfood smoothie in more ways than one!
I always love to sneak in veggies wherever I can. So not only is this smoothie bursting with delicious superfoods like tahini, cinnamon and baobab, I also included frozen cauliflower. Maybe it’s just me, but I really think this makes it creamier. I would recommend drinking this smoothie shortly after making it though. Some ingredients like okra and cauliflower aren’t even noticeable if you drink them right away. But if made ahead they can give the smoothie a “off” flavor after sitting a while.

This Smoothie can be made dairy free
Since we are using cauliflower to add creaminess, the only ingredient with any dairy is the whey powder. I love how whey poofs up smoothies while adding protein. But if you are dairy free and whey bothers you, just use a full scoop of collagen instead of half.
Customizable options
The basic recipe tastes amazing on it’s own. But I’ve also included some optional add-ins. These are baobab, maca and orange essential oil or extract. [If you want to read more about the health benefits of baobab, check out this recipe for Immune Boosting Hot Nog] The baobab doesn’t change the flavor, so if you have it, definitely throw it in!
I’ve recently been in love with the flavor combination of chocolate, orange and maca. But you can use either one alone as well. Maca has a unique, earthy, caramel taste that really grows on you! You can find it online, at health food stores, or at Bulk Barn if you live in Canada.
In my opinion, essential oils give a much more authentic flavor than extracts. But I know not all of us use them! I didn’t actually test this, but I’m sure a dash of orange extract would taste just fine instead of the essential oil if you’re going for that chocolate orange flavor!

I’ve been meaning to make more smoothies and this looks super tasty! Never would’ve guessed there’d be cauliflower in it! 😛
Thank you! I love being able to sneak some extra veggies in.😎
Ahhh — this has so many things I love (tahini and chocolate most of all!) and what an exciting surprise to learn about add-ins like maca and baobab! I’m also very intrigued by collagen — something else I haven’t tried but have been hearing more and more about recently.
Chocolate makes everything better lol!😄
As a gluten and dairy-free eater, who love tahini and anything chocolate – I am in love with this recipe.
Awesome! I don’t have to eat dairy free but I do love to include dairy free recipes in my life!
Looks delish!! I’ll try this with cacao powder. Yum!!
Enjoy!😊
I’ve been struggling with healthy options lately, because I’m always so hungry after eating healthy! This was very satisfying!
Awesome, I’m so glad to hear that!
Love the addition of frozen cauliflower!!! I don’t have tahini, so I added just plain ‘ol sesame seeds. Lunch, here I come!
Great substitution!!😁
